Millennium Square will be getting an ice rink from November 9, positioned underneath the At-Bristol planetarium.

The ice rink will be open from 10am until 8pm each day for eight weeks, with several special events planned.

It may not feel too Christmassy at the moment, but Destination Bristol chief executive John Hirst is already getting into the festive spirit.

“Christmas in Bristol would not be complete without an outdoor ice rink,” he says.

“The location for the At-Bristol ice rink this year is ideal and I am sure it will not only be a great addition to Bristol’s overall Christmas offer, it will be a huge success for At-Bristol and for our continually improving harbourside area.’’

A success for the harbourside yes, but the Millennium Square ice rink once again highlights the lack of a permanent ice rink in Bristol as the former rink on Frogmore Street (below) closed last year after half a century to make way for student accommodation.

  1. This is so exciting! Such a shame that the old rink closed. I hope this new one won’t be one of those plastic ice rinks that they put up near Cabot Circus last year, I was so disappointed when I got on there!
