Primary school moves into police station

When St John’s Primary School move into the former Redland police station this week, their new library will be in the old cells:

From the outside, the police station is much the same as before.

They have even retained the Bristol Constabulary sign above the main entrance, with the date of the building’s construction, 1891:

Inside, many original features have also been kept including this heavy duty door:

St John’s will remain in their original home on Worrall Road, with the new Lower Redland Road site housing their youngest pupils.

Classrooms are on all three floors and within an extension built behind the original building, with the playground on the site of the former police social club and stables.
