“A return to the centre please.”
A simple request one might think, but not today on the buses in Bristol where a return ticket is now no longer possible to buy.
From yesterday, there are no return fares within a newly created inner zone, which replaces the old zones one and two and more, stretching six miles from the city centre.
The cost of a single ticket is now calculated on the route distance (not the as the crow flies distance) you travel.
The four single fares available are:
- £1 three stop hop
- £1.50 for a journey of up to three miles
- £2.50 for a journey between three and six miles
- £3.50 for a journey over six miles within the inner zone
An equivalent to a return is a day ticket, applicable for people travelling more than three miles and wanting to return the same day.
Got it? Pity the poor bus drivers across Bristol today explaining the new system to confused passengers.
