Bristol Plays Music

The Colston Hall is to become Arts Council England’s music hub for Bristol.

A newly formed organisation, Bristol Plays Music, will deliver music education to young people aged from four to 25, with the Colston Hall used to create a direct link between music education and performance.

The new initiative sees Bristol Arts & Music Service in Southmead merge with Colston Hall Education to create a new programme of formal and non-formal music education, both in and out of school time.

Bristol Music Trust education programme coordinator Siggy Patchitt says:  ”The idea of bringing all of these initiatives under one roof is to position young people closer to the process and business part of making music, giving them involvement in every aspect of putting on a music event as well as performing the music.

“We are arguably the most musical city in the UK and this initiative is designed to enable higher profile youth music events, using the world class facilities of Colston Hall.”
