Bristol’s new wildflower meadows

This colourful new wildflower meadow in Castle Park is part of a £1.3 million nationwide research project led by the University of Bristol:

Wildflower meadow Castle Park Bristol

More meadows in Bristol can be found at Ridgeway Playing Fields in Hillfields, Hengrove Farm, Greenfield Primary Academy in Knowle and Little Mead Primary Academy in Southmead.

University scientists are planting the meadows in an attempt to improve the diversity and abundance of pollinating insects such as bees.

The Urban Pollinators project works in partnership with local councils and wildlife trusts. Together with Bristol City Council’s Meadow Bristol project, it won the 2013 Mayor’s Bristol Genius Award.

they’re beautiful!!! I’m sure I’ve seen one in Gore’s Marsh in Ashton and there’s a little strip in front of St. Mary Redcliffe school too, although I’m not sure whether they’re part of the same scheme!
    Love them!!
