Does Bristol need more supermarkets?

The latest supermarket to open in Bristol will be a Morrisons on College Green.

It will become the latest Morrisons to open in quick succession as the chain expands into Bristol, following the recent opening of one in a former bar on Whiteladies Road and another in an old off-license on the Gloucester Road.

There are more stores at Cribbs Causeway, Fishponds and Hartcliffe.

The new shop will be only a few yards from a Tesco Express, prompting renewed concerns about the proliferation of supermarkets in Bristol.

    in my opinion, No

you wonder what sort of kickbacks they give the councils in light of revelations that Tescos flouted planning permission rules more than once.

OMG i hope they let that old Habitat store to someone interesting soon…otherwise Morrisons/Asda/Lidl/Aldi/Tesco might grab it

If we didn’t have so many retail parks negating the need to visit the city centre, the shops would let more easily to a more interesting mix of tenants. Its dwindled down to food shops now as food is usually peoples most immediate need.
