George Ferguson has decided that Bristol’s Bus Rapid Transit 2 (BRT2) route will not cross Prince Street bridge, encroach onto the Floating Harbour in front of the M Shed nor affect the chocolate path.
The Cumberland Road option, rather than Hotwell Road, is likely to be adopted, but campaigners Stop BRT2 still have specific issues with the route – especially as it crosses the Ashton Avenue footbridge.
Once a dual-level road and rail bridge, it is now near-derelict but still well-used by walkers and cyclists to cross the New Cut near the Create Centre.
There will be a walk starting from the bridge today at 2pm to look at areas affected by BRT2. A protest picnic is also happening at 3.30pm in the open space next to the bridge.
