Da Vinci Italian restaurant on Denmark Street has replaced the short-lived El Puerto Lounge and even shorter lived La Cantina.
Hidden around the back of the Hippodrome, Denmark Street has the feel of London’s Soho about it, but in recent years has not had anywhere to make a special trip, with Harvey’s Cellars having a promising start but no longer a must-visit bar.
At least Smoke & Mirrors is trying something a little different, with magic shows in its in-pub theatre.
Da Vinci retains most of the fixtures and fittings from La Cantina, its menu featuring standard Italian fare with pizzas starting from £7.50 and pastas from £8.50, alongside escalope, rissoto and steaks.
It could finally see an excuse to visit Denmark Street other than arriving in it after leaving the Hippodrome.
