Opposition continues to mount over plans to sell an allotment in St Werburgh’s.
The site on Lynmouth Road near the Mina Road tunnel was owned by Scout Enterprises before it went into administration last year.
The land is currently up for auction despite an offer from Bristol City Council to the creditors Grant Thornton to secure its future as allotments.
There is concerted opposition and much local support from groups including Ashley Vale Action Group and the St Werburgh’s Neighbourhood Association that allotment holders should be able to keep plots that have been worked for almost a century.
Dozens of allotment holders held a protest to try and stop their plots being sold for development and now an e-petition has been launched to save the site.

Great news! The allotments are saved from developers. The council have confirmed that they successfully purchased the allotments this afternoon.
