A secret never before seen Gromit Unleashed sculpture is on display at The Greatest Dog Show on Earth at the former Habitat store on Queen’s Road.
Secret unless you saw him inside the Aardman headquarters on Doors Open Day:
This 81st Gromit joins the 80 others at the exhibition which opens today and runs until Sunday.
The finishing touches were still being put to it last night:
All of the Gromits lined up are quite a sight:
The Greatest Dog Show on Earth will be at the former Habitat between Wednesday and Sunday, open from 9am to 6pm from Wednesday to Friday, open late until 7pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
Entry for adults will be £4 each, with a concession for 12 to 18 year olds at £2 each. Children aged up to 11 can enter for free.
i am very anored about the 81st gromit my daughter and i found all 80 gromits even going to london aswll and now you say there wwas a 81st one i think ardman should be told off about this as other people i am sure will be anored aswell why should we go and pay £4 to see him and also it said there was 80 gromits in on city which there were not i am so annoyed about this
There *were* 80 Gromits. No-one knew about it until Doors open Day.
Look I know its for a good cause, the hospital saved my life while I was young and I have donated in every bucket I have seen while doing all 80 of the gromits…..but I have two young children who are now gromit mad and have loved every minute of seeing them and at the same time I have falled back in love with our great city, but for my two kids to see all the gromits plus number 81 (which is the talk of the school) it looks like I am having to give up 2-3 hours queuing. Surely after the Banksey exhibition they knew this would be massive and should have planned a extended period for this event, giving more time to raise money for the charity and people to see it.
I can’t believe you think Aardman should be “told off”. They put on this amazing event and will raise bloody loads of money for the Children’s Hospital. You obviously enjoyed them if you saw all 80. Does missing 1 really mean that much to you??
Plus by the sounds of it you travelled to London especially to see the Gromit – “i found all 80 gromits even going to london aswll”
If thats the case I can’t believe your arguing that you don’t want to pay £4 to see a Gromit when you must of paid alot more travelling to London to see 1 Gromit.
You saw all 80, well done, most people didn’t. The extra 1 isn’t part of the trail, so relax.
He wasn’t part of the main Gromit Unleashed trail but was commissioned to encourage people to take holidays at home. Organisers thought people might like to see him, that’s all. So your daughter did see all the Gromit’s on the trail.
I find the possessive attitude of people like the poster above bizarre. This project has provided fantastic summer entertainment and a chance to rediscover the lovely city of Bristol. You don’t own the trail, and it was your choice to spend your time and money going around it. The addition of another statue has no negative impact whatsoever, unless you have a REALLY warped view of what all of this is about: raising money for sick kids. Grow up!
Very well said
Oh, how I laughed at the first post..!!
Firstly, because the addition of a bonus Gromit can cause such annoyance to a person, and secondly, because the aggrieved person then sees fit to type her grievances whilst wearing a pair of boxing gloves & mashing her hand repeatedly upon her keyboard…
I can’t wait to see all the Gromits + the new one at the ex-Habitat store. I wish they could be there longer and I’m hoping I won’t have to queue for too many hours! Huge congratulations to all involved in the Gromit Unleashed Trail. Gromiteering – has been a great way to spend summer weekends.
It will be open until Monday as announced on Heart FM this afternoon
Will it really? How lovely! I look forward to going Monday then, if it is. Can’t say I want to go and queue up on the weekend for hours on end. Did that for Banksy!
In actual fact there were 80 gromits in one city as if you discount the London one there would only have been 79 in Bristol….lets not forget the purpose of all of this was to raise money for the children’s hospital, I really don’t think paying £4 to view them all together plus the extra one is asking too much
Has anyone seen Feathers McGraw recently? He is a fiend.
Yes saw him in costa coffee down town. He was having one of those frapacinos.
It sounds like you had a close shave with him.
Such a wonderful idea – the Gromits have been a fantastic was for Bristolians to re-explore their city. We can’t wait to check out the exhibition!
The first poster is right in a way. It was billed as a PUBLIC exhibition. Also, yes, after the fiasco with the banksy one this really should have been thought through. Opening this exhibition on a Thurday (during school hours) wasn’t clever and even a one day extension isn’t really going to appease the masses. It’s a shame! BIG shame! An 81st one added just for the exhibition is a little annoying, plus none of the mini ones were included (some were on/near the trail but kind of tossed aside – WHY??!!!??). I really believe this wasn’t thought through! How much extra money would this make for the charity??? Me and MANY others would happily give up some time to keep the exhibition going a little later in the day for the kiddies plus a few extra days for most to see. Why also no online/advanced tickets? A little like not publishing the odd opening hours for some on the trail. Silly little planning errors. A slightly sour end to a fantastic summer for loads!!
Maybe this wasn’t planned, they might not have known how popular this event was going to be. Maybe they put on the exhibition because there was so much demand for it. It’s only for a short time because they wanted them out on the streets for as long as possible, plus they need to get them ready for the auction.
So what if an 81st Gromit was added? Its nice for the people that went, they get to see a ‘secret’ Gromit. But I can’t believe people are annoyed that they won’t get to see it, even if they have seen all 80. Get a grip haha
