DJ Cheeba is a progressive audio-visual artist known for his cut and paste style of turntablism. Based in Bristol, he is a resident on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio show and has played gigs across the globe.
Cheeba will be performing at Motion on August 25 as part of Craig Charles’ Fantasy Weekender, which also features Gilles Peterson, the Invisible Circus and the Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra.

Dr Burnorium’s Hot Sauce Emporium
“At the front entrance to St Nick’s Market sits the Hot Sauce Emporium. A small open shop that caters to chilli fiends like me both in Bristol and online to the rest of the world. Sauces are arranged around the wall from the super mild to the insanely hot. As a self-confessed chilli addict (I eat chillies for breakfast every day) this place is heaven and I am forever thankful it’s in my city!”
Location, location, location
“Bristol sits in an amazing location on our island. As someone who is lucky enough to travel a fair bit, I can’t think of anywhere better to live in the country. Motorway links in all directions, fast train lines and a vastly improved international airport. Add to this we are spoiled for surrounding countryside, a bridge away from beautiful Wales and an hour from my homeland of Devon.”
Ashton Court and Leigh Woods
“Sitting on the western edge of Bristol is the Ashton Court estate and next to that Leigh Woods. As a student 10 years ago I was based at Bower Ashton so naturally spent a lot of time in the estate. Both are stunning areas of natural beauty within walking distance from the centre via the amazing Suspension Bridge and something I think many Bristol residents sadly take for granted.”
Water
“Running through the heart of Bristol is its historical waterways and docks. I’m not into boating but I do love a good boat party and enjoy a beer outside the Arnolfini on a warm evening. There is something welcoming and inviting about being next to the water and Bristol has tonnes of it from the Avon Gorge to the Cascade Steps.”
Community and scene
“I’ve been in Bristol for nearly 15 years now and obviously I’m heavily involved in the music scene here. The arts have been an outstanding part of Bristol for years and now more than ever it’s being embraced by the city council and pushed as a major tourist attraction. The thing that always amazes me about it is the community vibe of the scene here. Everyone is dead friendly and it only takes moments to make connections through friends as it’s a relatively small city with a inclusive and welcoming vibe.”
