Hundreds of people have now signed a get well soon card for a five-foot sculpture of a dog.

Carosello never even made the official start of the Gromit Unleashed trail, having been prised from his plinth by vandals.

But since then there has been an outpouring of public affection and that same plinth now houses his large card:
