The Three Brooks in Bradley Stoke cuts a rather incongruous site, with a pub not a typical sight in a large modern housing estate. Yet pubs are exactly what new communities need to become just that: a community.

It took more than 20 years for a town centre to be built, and the area now has four pubs: the Three Brooks, the Hollow Tree, Bailey’s Court Inn and The Orchard.

The Three Brooks is an Ember Inn establishment named after the streams around which the new town was built.

Tuesday and Sunday nights are quiz nights here, with food, Sky Sports and also live music. The real ale selection changes constantly, with Ember Inns pubs all part of the Cask Marque scheme.

Not everything is going swimmingly at the Three Brooks, however, which according to The Bradley Stoke Journal is currently having its license examined.

A complaint by two local residents cites binge drinking, anti-social behaviour, breaches of licensing hours, noise, fights and public disorder, saying that the issues have been going on since 2009.
