A recent project run by the Watershed is the subject of a documentary today on BBC Radio 4.
Digital Dishes saw 13 people aged over 50 from all over Europe come together and share their food stories.
The event was the result of a workshop teaching more about digital technology, with food the subject used to make this happen.
Participants chose one dish to represent their life and heritage, from Banitsa, a Bulgarian starter made with filo and feta, to a Turkish stuffed aubergine dish known as Karniyarik.
A multitude of food cultures from across the continent came together for one meal in Bristol at 40 Alfred Place in Kingsdown.
The Food Programme will be exploring the stories behind the recipes, such as the rise of vegetarianism in 60s Britain; the Balkan love of Borscht, a beetroot-red soup; how a special Bulgarian dish can help tell your fortune; and why cous-cous can spark conversation.
