Charlie’s Bar is the latest business to give an unusual site in Clifton a go. Sticking to the cocktail theme started by Whitelock & Grace and The Colour Inn, this new bar tucked away to the side of Clifton Down shopping centre near the back door to the railway station also specialises in flavoured rums.

funny how there's now been a deluge of good reviews! The reviews on Tripadvisor are equally as bad as the first ones on here

I appear to have had a totally different experience both times i have visited i feel the lack of responses like mine is due to the fact that people are more likely to spend time to write a review when they have had a bad experience then when they have had a good one.Firstly the food: i generally dont eat meat - not normally a fan but i thought i would go for the hot dog and give it a go - i loved it when i do eat meat i normally dont finish it this i could have had another if i wouldnt have popped! my husband a big carnivore also oved it. The Onion rings and chips were epic the best i have had in a long time. I also went for breakfast the following day with our cousin - pancakes - could have been more americn (bigger!) but quality especially the bacon was fantastic! we all had a lovely breakfast and the coffe was lush. Will be going again with other friends in the next week.Secondly service - absolutely brilliant friendly and as quick as they were able on the friday night which was very busy sat downstairs both times and the atmosphere was great and temperatue in the bar was fine not cold at all.I think when reading these reviews any person considering visiting should remember - people with a complaint will be the most vocal, this place is very new and the staff are all learning - they will improve but this always takes time and practice and more importantly let them know your issues whilst you are there and give them a chance to make it right for you, this is a great idea and lovely to have something like this on Whiteladies Road more variety for eating is always great keeps things interesting and exciting. My husband and i have throughly enjoyed both visits and will go again. Give this place a chance i have seen numerous pubs come and go over the past 10 years on this site never open for long and always empty this is a new business which could be really great with a bit of local support and i have no doubt that they will be - remember your first weeks doing your job - bet you didnt get everything right either but with time and support you improve until you get it just right help them do the same.Very few people take the time to review when they like a place therefore there will be many more people who have had my experience and just have thought to post a review!

Really surprised by all the bad reviews on here and felt compelled to disagree! I went to Gas & Co on Friday 28th Feb with a few work colleagues at lunchtime and we loved it!The service was very friendly and efficient. The décor was cool. Some dishes were very slightly on the pricey side but we were all very impressed with our food. I had the ribs and they were huge, meaty and really tasty!I made a point of recommending it to everyone back at the office and expect it to be a great success.
