Small Bar will be continuing the craft beer craze in Bristol when it opens on St Nicholas Street in July. After a concerted campaign of online teasing on Twitter, it was announced yesterday afternoon that Small Bar will be occupying the premises at 10 St Nicholas Street.
This location was last occupied by the Day+Night club. Before that, it was once the original home of Las Iguanas which has since gone on to become a national chain, with their head office still in Bristol.
Beers already mentioned by Bruce from Small Bar include Wyoming Sheep Ranch from Derbyshire’s Buxton Brewery, Camden Wheat from London’s Camden Town Brewery and Red Rocker from the Cromarty Brewing Company in Bruce’s native Scotland.
Bruce also promises a permanent Bristol Beer Factory tap in the new bar which is sure to give Beerd and BrewDog, Bristol’s two other craft beer bars, healthy competition.
Day+Night closed in such a rush in June 2011 that a piece of A4 paper still in the window details what was left behind: “9 x beer taps, 1 x small wooden / metal garden chair, 2 x fridges (1 large & 1 small), 1 x stainless steel kitchen unit, 4 x broken pay as you go / laundrette style washing machines, 2 x bars (1 upstairs & 1 downstairs), 6 x empty oil barrels, Racking, 10+ half used tins of paint”
