Out of one window of the Elm Tree pub in Bishopsworth is a splendid view of Dundry and its church spire; a reminder that Bishopsworth too used to be a village once upon a time, with its Manor House and parish church, both Grade II*-listed, not too far from this pub which is currently for sale.
Unfortunately, these days the pub is no longer in such a bucolic location, but there are plans afoot to improve what is known locally as Elm Tree Corner, sprucing up the environment and providing improved car parking and pedestrian walkways.
There is a skittle alley here, free pool on a Thursday, a disco on Friday, karaoke on Saturday and a £7 Sunday roast which can be bought in the pub before being taken away.
Inside this spacious pub with high ceilings and a few interior stained glass windows being held together by gaffer tape, a juke box was belting out 60s classics when I visited, drowning out the BBC News Channel.
On my recent trip via the 75 bus, Tribute was the only ale on tap, with Blackthorn on draught, and cans of Bulmers and Natch behind the bar.
