An internet entrepreneur from Bristol who founded a new online dating website last year so his own mum could find love has sent a special Mother’s Day card to every mother now signed up. My Lovely Parent is a site where adult children encourage their single parents online to meet new people.
Matt Connolly’s inspiration came when his mum, a single 60-something, suggested he help “find her knight in shining armour”.
He said: “People want their parents to be happy and, if possible, to have someone special to share that happiness.”
“When you’re younger you’re changing jobs, moving house and meeting new people. When you’re older, especially when retired, friendship groups are often already established and meeting other single people can be difficult.”
Matt, who lives in Clifton, was in his early 20s when he set up his first company, digital agency Enable which closed in 2010. As well as My Lovely Parent, he also runs a company that develops, invests in and curates new ideas, products and properties.
