Once upon a time I did a pub crawl down the Gloucester Road, starting at the Gloucester Arms and ending (I think) in the Bishops. Now I am more likely to do a crawl of its soft play areas and child-friendly cafes. This is an area of Bristol full of sprogs, so there is a constant market for this kind of business.
Rimando’s was an early favourite for me and my daughter. But it has since been trumped by first Portico Play and now KudaCan. These latter two businesses are both in spacious buildings just off the main road; Portico in what used to be the old Venue magazine offices.
KudaCan is our new favourite for many reasons. Sometimes what interests a child is baffling to an adult, but what is clear is that KudaCan is a brilliant place for little ones.
There is an area for babies with sensory toys, two different-sized ball pens, lots of toys, a toddler-sized kitchen and a reading area among other treats.
This is all fenced off so adults can keep an eye on their sprogs while sipping a coffee. There are also regular activities like messy play, and the staff are registered childcarers so KudaCan can even be used as a crèche, but I have yet to see any mum or dad take up this particular offer.
No doubt my two-year-old and I will have a new favourite soon in this part of Bristol. But for now, it’s definitely KudaCan.
