Today is the last day of the long weekend-long Old Duke Jazz Festival on King Street, with music from midday and headliners Jeremy Huggett’s Jazz Me Blue.
Tuesday: The Cypher, Mr Wolf’s
An old skool rap battle that may or may not feature Rupert Murdoch versus Julian Assange, backed by a live band and with an old fashioned hip hop DJ in-between.
Wednesday-September 8: Jigsy, Tobacco Factory Theatre
Les Dennis plays a washed-up comedian in a play returning to Bristol for the second time after a very well-received premiere run at the Tobacco Factory last year.
Thursday: dBS Music launch, The Tunnels
Marking dBs Music opening in Bristol in partnership with City of Bristol College, initially running a BTEC Diploma in Music Production, and DJ and Electronic Music Production.
Friday: Euros Child, Rise + Bristol County Sports
The former Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci plays two gigs in Bristol on one day, first acoustic in Rise, followed by a full gig with band at Bristol County Sports club on Colston Street.
Saturday: Adventure Capitalism, Bristol Old Vic Studio
A one-off event as part of the London 2012 Festival sees one of the UK’s best known PR pros Mark Borkowski’s “compelling, autobiographical performance lecture”.
Sunday: El Rincon festival and tortilla competition, Greville Smyth Park
With live music from flamenco duo Cuffy and Jimi Can, Chalupki and Arron Catlow from Sheelanagig, among a day of bowls, table tennis, sangria, cerveza and paella.
