Hart’s Bakery   Monday-Friday, Hampton Lane; Saturday, Gloucester Road
This week is the last week of Bristol’s best artisan bakery in its current form as the lease runs out in Cotham. Until she finds a new permanent location, Laura Hart will be enjoying some much-deserved lie-ins and also promises to do some pop-ups, with a few Christmas surprises also up the sleeve of her apron.

South Pacific   From Tuesday, Bristol Hippodrome
One of the greatest musicals of all time comes to Bristol for two weeks only. The reinvented Rodgers and Hammerstein classic played to sold-out houses on Broadway. This production features a cast and live orchestra of 50, and stars Samantha Womack (née Janus), best known as Ronnie in EastEnders and Mandy from Game On.

The Cafe   Wednesday, Sky1
Weston-super-Mare is the setting for Sky1′s new sitcom The Cafe, written by and starring Ralf Little and directed by Craig Cash, a duo who first worked together on The Royle Family. A cafe was specially built in Knightstone on the corner of Marine Lake as the show was filmed in the seaside town over the summer.

Will Self   Wednesday, Thunderbolt
The acerbic writer will be in Totterdown talking about his latest book, Walking to Hollywood, in which he travels to Los Angeles to find out who or what “killed film”, in a work that is travelogue, film criticism and autobiography in one. Self will do readings, a Q&A and sign copies of the book for fans of his inimitable prose.

Great Stout Open Day   Saturday, Bristol Beer Factory
This is the day when a dozen stouts especially brewed for Christmas will be unleashed by those splendid chaps at the Bristol Beer Factory. Only 150 cases have been made, with flavours including chocolate orange, hazelnut latte and Laphroaig whisky. To mark the occasion, there will be a brewery tour and tastings.

  1. Oh what a shame for the Hart’s Bakery!!! I didn’t know the lease was running out and I am really disappointed as it was at my doorstep… I hope to see Laura soon somewhere else then ;o)
