A grandfather in his 70s from Keynsham has uploaded a rap video to YouTube, featuring him sitting in front of his computer wearing a hoodie and saying “innit” rather a lot. It’s part of a campaign this weekend when the clocks go back to donate the extra hour to introduce somebody new to the internet.
Michael Kelly, who already teaches others how to use the internet, is an Age UK ‘Digital Champion’. He was given a laptop for his 65th birthday and wrote Ode to all Silver Surfers to celebrate the internet’s effect on his life.
Listen out at 1.16 for his peculiarly Bristolian burr on the word ‘Twitter’.
“I feel so passionately about involving other older people in using the internet,” Mr Kelly told the BBC. “I know the difference it has made to my life and I’ve seen first hand the difference that it makes to other peoples’ lives.”
