Omigod you guys! Whatever you’re looking for in a night at the theatre, Legally Blonde The Musical has in abundance. From spectacular dancing and fashion tips to legal debates and cute dogs it’s all there and more in this stage version of the film that Paris Hilton might have mistaken for a documentary.
At the Bristol Hippodrome as part of its first UK national tour, Faye Brookes portrays Elle with a perfect balance of Malibu Barbie, Marylin Monroe and Eleanor Roosevelt. The audience is moved with her along her journey of self-discovery and genuinely feels her excitement as well as her disappointment.
Brookes is supported by an excellent cast including Liz McClarnon, who is unrecognisable from her Atomic Kitten days. Her character brings a touch of classy comedy to the show. The enthusiasm and liveliness of the entire cast filters through to the audience so that by the end of the show the theatre is buzzing with energy.
This mix of experience and brand new talent works incredibly well. Every character is believable, even if you can’t entirely believe what they have been up to.
And ladies, don’t miss your next UPS delivery. I guarantee you won’t be dissapointed.
The superb performances complement a fantastic score by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, whose songs address issues such as the importance of staying positive, the intrigues of Irish culture and, most importantly, is he gay or European? The choreography and directorship of Jerry Mitchell was flawless throughout.
Don’t miss your chance to see this, like, totally amazing musical.
