St George’s announce May programme

St George’s may have missed out in the latest round of Arts Council England funding, but that has not stopped them from announcing a typically diverse range of events taking place at the acclaimed concert hall next month. Here is a pick of some of the highlights:

Tuesday, May 3

An Evening With Gervase Phinn

Sharing his hilarious and sometimes poignant tales of life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, this best selling author, radio and TV personality is one of Britain’s greatest comic writers and raconteurs.

Get The Blessing

A special two-part performance by the UK’s greatest jazz / rock / uncategorisable combo, with an opening dedicated-to-John-Coltrane set, followed by a second set drawn from their brand new third album, Do Mind If I Don’t.

Paul Lewis, Schubert Cycle II

Having met the mounting anticipation for this new tour head on with a rapturous, sell-out opening concert in February, Paul Lewis returns for the second in his series of Schubert’s mature piano music.
