Mange Tout

It may be a cafe from the outside, but Mange Tout on Corn Street in Bristol city centre is far more than only a cafe. It could be your cafe of choice in the morning rush on the way to work, or your stop-off at lunchtime when it can get very busy, but for 20 years Mange Tout has also been providing buffets to workplaces and parties across Bristol.

Just a look at their buffet menu is enough to get the taste buds salivating: skewered prawns, chicken goujons, homemade cakes, an exotic fruit platter. I could order for their minimum of six people and have the food all to myself.

The buffets are made in their small cafe with its metal tables and chairs spilling out onto Corn Street, confetti from wedding celebrations at the register office opposite often blowing about beneath your feet.

This may be a grab-and-go kind of place, but there are still plenty of sits, both inside and out. Inside, the counter takes up most of the space, containing almost every sandwich filling imaginable.

The walls are packed with photos, prints and paintings and a huge mirror on one wall doubles the small space. There is also an old Ordnance Survey map of Bristol, which is always fascinating.

Whether it’s for buffets or your regular cafe, Mange Tout is a Bristol constant that is here to stay.
