That most estimable of Bristol institutions, the Old Duke on King Street, is hosting its annual jazz festival this weekend. From Saturday, August 28 to Bank Holiday Monday, August 30, King Street will come alive with the sound of smooth jazz on a specially constructed stage.
The Old Duke hosts jazz free of charge every day of the week, but their Jazz Festival is the time of the year when punters and staff alike can really let their hair down and enjoy live music from lunchtime until closing time.
The pub has been putting on the festival for more than half a century, and was just one of the reasons why last year it was named alongside Buckingham Palace as one of the places in the UK to have made the biggest contribution to jazz. Read what the Evening Standard had to say about it here.
