Grounded (Bedminster)

I thought that Grounded had lost its magic when I visted their new(ish) cafe on Bedminster Parade on Friday morning. The first Grounded in Redfield has long been one of my favourite cafes in Bristol, so I was slightly disappointed when I was left waiting at the bar on my own with two staff working.

But I need not have worried, as with a theatrical fluorish one of the girls with her back turned soon produced a plate full of tasty treats, Grounded’s famous chocolate brownies cut up into small bite-size pieces to sample. So sample I did, a few times, of their choc chip brownie that I already knew I was going to order.

Grounded’s Bedminster incarnation is a very similar beast to its original Redfield home (click here for a review). In a much larger space opposite the Grant Bradley Gallery, it still has mismatched tables and chairs, wooden floors and a huge blackboard particularly emphasising their fantastic stone-baked pizzas.

Grounded Bedminster also has live music and late openings, until 11pm Thursday to Saturday, continuing the tradition of being a cafe by day and a bar-cum-restaurant by night.

After what could have been a shaky start, I am pleased to report that the sister venue of one of the best cafes in Bristol has a younger sibling just as great.

Grounded, 66-68 Bedminster Parade, Bedminster. 0117 923 1000.

I went there on Friday and was really impressed – food was great and the staff were really friendly. Hope it does well in what must be a difficult area.

  2. Good free wifi, great coffee, but not a place to meet for business, as the level of music suits the staff, not the customer

  3. Living in Redfield and I still havent visited the Grounded café there, my partner has and continues to do so so it cant be all bad.

Shameless plug: Motaman opposite ASDA :)
