Gorilla knitting on North Street

Suebo the North Street gorilla has got some natty new knitwear.

His Christmas jumper is the work of Podknit, last seen decorating the posts outside the old police station on Nelson Street, using wool from Paper Village the other side of the road from the Cheo-designed simian.

Good point Bob, I mean I can't believe that the 'luvvies' aren't cheering from the rooftops. The money used for arts and culture projects is an investment - as Charlie Bolton already mentioned for each pound put in several more are generated externally. I haven't seen or heard Bristol's councillors or MPs offering up their allowances or expenses so they can 'take a hit like the rest of us'.

If Cllr Benyon is that worried about crime prevention why doesn't he suggest that councillors take a 10% cut in their allowances to make up the shortfall? All in this together and all that eh!

I think that these awards are only open to businesses signed up for Destination Bristol's membership scheme. I cannot imagine that many pubs, certainly not the best ones, are part of this. So it's left to the ones owned by and with money from major breweries to join, enter and win. The proper best pubs meanwhile just continue to do what they do better than a place like Horts, which may have an expensive new cinema room but is completely devoid of anything even approaching atmosphere.
