Green Wednesdays at Creative Common

The first Green Wednesday at Creative Common is taking place today, featuring a film, meal from Yurt Lush and guest speaker to encourage debate.

Local Food Roots is a documentary chronicling the emergence of the UK local food movement since 1990: the pioneers, motivations, diversity; the challenges and opportunities; and what this might mean for the future.

The guest speaker tonight is Luke Hasell, manager of a 500-acre organic farm in the Chew Valley and director of the Story Group, which supplies meat to homes and restaurants across Bristol.

Hassel is also a director of Tipi Events which, in collaboration with chef Josh Eggleton of The Pony and Trap set up Yurt Lush, the onsite café at Creative Common, and were also the driving forces behind Eat Drink Bristol Fashion in Queen Square over the last two summers.

Next week’s film is Chasing Ice, the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of climate change, with guest speaker Alistair Sawday.

Other guest speakers in the coming weeks include Bristol City Council cabinet member and Green Party councillor Gus Hoyt; and permaculture expert and founder of Transition Bristol, Sarah Pugh.
