Before Be.In Bristol opened its doors on Whiteladies Road for the first time, they published an open letter to allay fears of another vertical drinking establishment on what used to be known as ‘”the strip”.
Naysayers could easily have walked into this light and airy bar yesterday lunchtime to be greeted by the calypso sound of Soul Limbo by Booker T and the MGs, better known as the BBC Test Match Special theme, and realise that any fears are unfounded.
Foliage vies for space inside with exposed air vents, and there is currently an art exhibition stretching along the upstairs balcony.
There is also regular live music, including an open mike night every Monday hosted by Lady Nade.
Current ales on tap are Hophead Dark Star, Nova from Bristol Beer Factory, and St Austell Tribute and Trelawny, with a selection of bottles and ciders including Copper Press, Rattler and Stowford Press.
Food here is thoughtful, local and seasonal, with menu options currently including an ‘ode to pumpkin pie’ (£7.50) and ‘The Bristol Stacker’ (£6), a double-decker stack layered with pulled pork, smoked beef brisket and mayo.
