A 21-metre high 360-degree dome, with eight 3D cameras and six projectors helping visitors see their energy fields morph in real time has been installed inside Brunel’s Old Station by Temple Meads as part of the Danceroom Spectroscopy Festival.
It’s the brainchild of Bristol University physicist David Glowacki (below).
“These are normally used for video games, where you see yourself as a character on the screen,” Glowacki told Wired.
“I wondered if, instead of interpreting people as little video game characters, we interpreted people as energy fields.
“Instead of turning 3D images into virtual avatars, you become energy avatars and embed people in this augmented and molecular world.”
Today is the second day of a three-day festival in conjunction with the Watershed’s Pervasive Media Studio.
