Pub of the week: The Knights Templar

With a name like The Knights Templar, the uninitiated may envisage a pub with historic connections, oak beams and a roaring fire.

Sadly, this Wetherspoon pub is located underneath an office building round the back of a railway station, and the closest it has to any historic connections is displaying train times.

Today is the start of Wetherspoon’s Real Ale Festival, featuring 50 different ales including 10 from craft breweries across the USA.

The Watford-based pub chain may have its detractors, but their claim to be “Britain’s biggest supporter of real ale” cannot be disputed.

Their buying power also means that beers served in their pubs are cheap as chips, with the fortnight-long festival featuring everything from Adnams Broadside to Young’s Special.

One Response so far.

Does the pub still have video screens with the departure/arrivals at Temple Meads? Not a bad place to adjourn to if you miss a train or you are waiting for someone.
