Anson Rooms reopens

The fully refurbished Anson Rooms reopens today with a gig from contemporary folk-rockers Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit.

Tomorrow it’s the turn of Chvrches with thwarted Mercury Prize favourites London Grammar playing on Saturday night, and the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Public Service Broadcasting and Midlake playing before the end of the year.

The venue within Bristol University’s student union building on Queen’s Road has hosted live music for almost 50 years.

Acts that have played here in that time include Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Amy Winehouse, Radiohead, Coldplay and Kaiser Chiefs.
