Bristol has been named as one of the world’s top-10 bicycle-friendly cities by online travel agents Essential Travel.

Pedal Power Transport and the annual Bespoked handmade bicycle show were named as two examples of why the city deserved the handpicked accolade.

“Bristol is a hilly place and that isn’t always great news for cyclists – especially beginners who aren’t fit yet”, says the citation.

“Still, the city continues to make giant strides in catching up to its European cycling counterparts.

“Bristol’s biking culture is taking off in a big way. In the last decade, the number of cyclists who ride to work has doubled, and this number is expected to increase significantly over the next five years.”

Seems to be based on one city per country. Every city on Holland should be in top ten!

I went to Vienna 15 years ago and even back then they were streets ahead of where we are now.

    Excuse the pun.

Err… OK, hands up. Which idiot thought it would be a good idea to use a photograph of really useless, even dangerous infrastructure? The clue is in the photo’s name “Shit Bristol Bike Lane”.
