The Ethicurean’s very own action man Jack Adair-Bevan has taken home first place in the ‘Alcohol’ category at the prestigious Young British Foodie Awards.

The Ethicurean Book 3 (May 2012)

The Ethicurean in Wrington may be praised for its ethos of strict seasonality and growing much of its food in its own Victorian walled garden, but Jack’s drinks play an integral part in this most magical of places.

On one previous visit, I was fortunate enough to sample a sip of one of Jack’s vermouths made with essence of toffee apple cake, an Ethicurean staple.

Lined up along one wall of the restaurant are bottles of sweet elixirs mixed by Jack, some of which work, some of which don’t.

Some of which also make it into The Ethicurean Cookbook, published earlier this year, where Jack isn’t just a mixologist, but a hunter too.

You can also tell the time of year by looking at Jack’s beard.
