Or......this is a good review on tripadvisor. we have a few you know. And it is not fake.We'd promised our 9yo daughter that she could pick the style of food we had for lunch. She wanted an American tex/mex finger food style lunch. Well, after hitting the TA map on the app, we narrowed it down to a handful of well reviewed American eateries, one of which was in the Whiteladies area... it was called Creole Brasserie. We couldn't find it; tempers and hunger were mounting ... We parked the car halfway up the road and stumbled across Gas & Co like some kind of oasis of awesomeness. It promised exactly what we were looking for (we learned that the Creole Brasserie had closed, a few hundred yards down the street) with burgers, hotdogs and sides of slaw and onion rings ... We were made very welcome from the word go by lovely Daniel, who couldn't do enough for us. DD wanted an oreo shake, Daddy wanted a Peanut butter shake and as I couldn't make up my mind, he suggested a combo of both (DD went for this too). The shakes were huge! We should've shared really, similar in portion to american food in America, we easily could have shared plates and drinks. DH ordered a classic hotdog after reading about the locally produced meat; DD ordered a starter of ten chicken wings (HUGE - she couldn't eat them all, delicious though they were!) in BBQ sauce which came with interesting beetroot chutney and slaw; I had a pulled pork hot dog after deliberating over the burnt ends. I'd never heard of burnt ends before, but Daniel offered to bring out a sample side of these so we could try them for the future. They were delicious - he explained how it's brisket, cooked once, slowly, then again in BBQ sauce. MMMMmmm Mmmmm. I will definitely be going back for more of those! We passed on puss, although next time will avoid a whole shake a piece, as they are so filling, to leave room for some apple pie or the like. The decor is very cool too; red and turquoise, some rough wood pallet panelling, very retro Grease diner style, but with a more eclectic feel, not just red vinyl and chrome like chains of diners. Still felt individual. We are planning when we can next get over to Bristol to take our 13 yo son for the combo sharer ... Failing that, DH and I should plan a weekend away in Bristol and partake of the Firday night expresso martinis on offer! We couldn't understand why people have slated this restaurant on TA unless they are very worried competitors afraid of the very serious competition from this new kid on the block.Visited April 2014

Jacob must be a friend of Gee's.....or at least works for atomic burger, the burger joint, roccotillos, or grillstock.
