No See No Evil in 2013

With the current redevelopment of Nelson Street, organisers of See No Evil have announced that the festival will not be returning this year.

They have also tantalisingly revealed that the next See No Evil may well move to a new Bristol site.

In a statement, organisers said: “It is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we feel that if we cannot maintain or raise the standard of the event to that of the previous two years then we should take a sabbatical and start planning for 2014 instead.

“To do half an event, with half the wall space and just a couple of stages would feel like a massive let-down compared to the previous events – and we only want to do bigger and better.

“With this in mind we have already turned our attentions to 2014 – we will look for a new site and also look to expand the event to include even more creative and artistic forms.

“We believe that See No Evil was an amazing event for the city and we want to take it up a notch to showcase to the world everything that Bristol has to offer.

“So we are going to get our heads down now and work away to try to take this project to the next level.”

When he says: “to showcase to the world everything that Bristol has to offer” does that mean that all the artists at See No Evil were from Bristol? I never realised.

A new hotel on this site should attract smaller shops and make the area a lot more plesant. It sounds like the See No Evil organisers are transforming the graffiti showcase/gallery into another £estival concep£.

So… the vagina wall stays? Good grief.
