Farmers’ market celebrates 15 years

Bristol farmers’ market on Corn Street has celebrated its 15th birthday with live music, cookery demonstrations, and a cake made by Source Food Hall and Café and Taynton Farm.

If you missed yesterday’s celebrations, they will be repeated next Wednesday, June 19.

The market was launched in 1998 with 20 local farmers and producers. Originally fortnightly, it soon became the first weekly farmers’ market to be established in the UK.

Five of the original traders at the very first farmers’ market are still trading today. They are Moorland Farm, Elm Tree Farm, Druid Farm, Pullins Bakery and Besley Fruits.
