Bristol City Council’s official Twitter feed, @BristolCouncil, has started this week full of the joys of spring.
Their first tweet set the tone: “What a lovely day to be alive, and a lovely place to be. You all have a great week, Bristol #lovebristol #bestcityinthecountry”
When asked by one concerned citizen whether their account had been hacked, they replied: “Even the council can show a soul and sense of humour”
Without ever quite resorting to lols, whoever in the communications department is now behind the account has, shall we say, a youthful way with words.
“A big hug right back at ya” was a typical tweet from the reinvigorated account.
As well as all of this, they also managed to promote a new play about female genital mutilation and talked of “proactively” contacting the media when a new finance system had some teething problems.
Keep up the good work!
I’m really impressed with the new friendly and positive approach, I hope this continues. I don’t know who is running @BristolCouncil but they’re very good. They even liked my hair!
“@BristolCouncilYour council loves you too @MsMottram – and by the way, your hair looks beautiful in that profile pic with the sun in it #caringcouncil”
Raising the esteem of Bristol citizens, one person at a time.
