A tantalising glimpse of a new Bristol craft beer bar has appeared on King Street opposite the Old Vic.

The Beer Emporium promises “a fresh seasonal British menu and excellent customer service, all in a rustic and comfortable environment”.

The new paint job only reveals a vague opening date of Summer 2013, but on their website they are now recruiting for several positions.

In other beer news, two new but very different breweries have also sprung up in the Bristol area over the last few weeks.

Rocket Science Craft Ales is a nano brewery based in Yate, with their beers available for the first time in Bristol at the recent Da Boes pop-up at 40 Alfred Place.

The new brewery’s first two concoctions are Comet Tail, a German wheat beer, and Jet Black, a black IPA.

Rocket Science beers are currently also available in bottles at the Hare on the Hill in Kingsdown and from Corks of Cotham.

At the other end of the scale, Beerd Brewery may originate from the bar of the same name on St Michael’s Hill but it is also backed by the increasingly expanding Bath Ales and made in their Warmley brewery.

The first Beerd beers include Superweizen, a Hefeweizen style beer with a banana aroma and a hint of clove, an American Brown Ale made with five malts and four hops, and porters in a range of flavours including chilli, liquorice, vanilla, mint and almond.

We are hoping to be open on June 28th but as we’ve had setbacks in the past we are holding off on an official date. We will certainly be open by the first week in July.
