The latest plan to secure the future of the Whiteladies Picture House is this new Kickstarter campaign to raise money to save the former cinema from development into a gym and flats.

The Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise £10,000 by the end of June to enable a feasibility study, including a full structural survey and detailed architectural drawings.

The ultimate aim is to buy the building, conserve its architectural heritage and redevelop it as a mixed-use community arts venue, incorporating a cafe-bar, 450-seat theatre and 200-seat cinema.

  1. Thanks for sharing this article.

Bristol is a wonderful close knit community, making it stand out from many cities in the UK due to the warmth and love of the city from it’s dwellers. Hopefully this love of our heritage will help save Whiteladies Picture House and conserve the space for future use in the community.

We will be sharing this on our social media sites to hopefully help spread the word and push donations!

I can’t be the only one that sees an enormous amount of naivety and cynicism in this. Good luck to them, they’re really going to need it.
