Mayfest 2013 begins

Mayfest 2013 began yesterday with a giant doily being made in Queen Square, botox in a dressing room at the Old Vic, a sound installation in the entrance lobby of Central Library and an opening party featuring an interpretative dance-off.

Some of today’s highlights (click here for the full programme) include the first performance of Beowulf at the Trinity Centre, aerial sculptures accompanied by a community choir at Circomedia and an “unsettlingly voyeuristic tribute to our private desires” at the Cube.

Mayfest continues until May 26. Visit the Mayfest Cafe in the Parlour Showrooms on College Green to pick up a programme, or visit www.mayfestbristol.co.uk.
