Thali Cafe, Easton
“It’s relaxed, serves great cheap tasty food and is near my house. You can go there any time day or night and always bump into friends.”

The Square Club
“Away from my usual haunts, tucked away in Berkeley Square, this is a quirky venue, with lovely staff, great events, a secret garden and free coffee and wi-fi for members. What’s not to like?”

K*NERS
“These guys are filled with energy, positivity and fresh driving hip hop beats. They love Bristol and they’re going to be huge! Check out Bristol Grammar, their new single.”

Caribbean Wrap
“All the publicly will go to the new Caribbean cuisine chain store opening in the centre, but I will always nip along to Jenny’s place in St Nick’s market if I want authentic low-cost Caribbean food in a cosy environment. It’s my top noshing station in town.”

Ujima Radio
”The current love of my life; a social enterprise with 200 volunteers zinging with energy from Nia’s championing of the great unsigned to Styles’ uber code of the streets sessions and many many more, plus politics, gossip and culture. It’s on 98FM and online at www.ujimaradio.com. Ujima is the voice of underground Bristol, broadcasting from the heart of St Paul’s.”

Hmmmm…. this is all getting a little over-positive. I know that good news sells and all that, but I would welcome a grouch or too about the LACK of good restaurants in Bristol. This city is getting to be like the Moonies, a lot of star-struck zombies running around. I mean, come on, Paul Hassan, Thali Cafe at No1! Its cute, it is relaxed, excellent branding, but that is it. Visit a few times and you’ll realize that the food is frankly second-rate.

I love the “Bristol favourites” articles! Its nice to read positive things, support local businesses and occasionally give us, the readers, a nice tip off about a bit of a hidden gem.

Whilst they might not always be 5 choices to our own taste, wouldn’t it be boring if we all liked the same things and hung out in the same 5 spots all the time.

I quie like finding more about the people from the blog too…but clearly I’m just nosey.
