The East Bristol Bakery on St Mark’s Road in Easton could be opening as early as the middle of next week. Still with lots to do after three months of hard work, the shutters were raised for the first time today for a test-run bake and the chance to introduce their wares to the local community.
When I popped in soon after 10am, Alex the baker was busy introducing himself to curious passers-by, while on a small table was a selection of produce that his bakery will be selling: overnight malthouse, overnight white, white sourdough, 70 per cent wholemeal with sourdough, chocolate brownies, and a cherry and marzipan cake.
Yet to come out of the oven were flapjacks and focaccia, while Alex promises daily specials once the final pieces of work are completed.
