The Cooler on Park Street in Bristol is no more. Gone. Caput. Defunct. In its place will come a new nightclub aimed at the student market, whose new owner told The Post will feature more commercial acts and admitted that “it’s probably going to be bad news for the people who usually come here”.

The new club, that will be called Forty Eight, will be competing with student favourites around the Triangle, Lizard Lounge, Mbargo, The Bunker, Pam Pam and the like, and will probably become another place that non-students will not step foot inside.

Gigs previously booked to take place in The Cooler will have to find an alternate venue, with a few already arranging space in venues including the Thekla and Fleece.
