Bristol’s own Fifty Shades of Grey

Bristol could have its own version of the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon with the publication of Twisted Knickers, a new chick lit novel with a raunchy twist by AL Cooper, the nom de plume of a primary school teacher with two teenage children from Almondsbury.

Twisted Knickers is Cooper’s debut novel and is available to download for free this weekend on the Amazon Kindle. Just follow this link.

The story follows Christie Robinson, whose cheating ex-husband is vainly pursuing a career in Hollywood leaving her to scrape a living as a chat line hostess working from her Clifton home.

“I am a primary school teacher and that is why I use the pen name,  the saucy bits don’t really fit with the twee image, although, judging by the success of Fifty Shades, I know plenty of mums from the playground who would love my story,” Cooper said.

“My readers say mine is far better written than E L James’, but, having read only one of them, this is not the huge compliment you might think.

“What most of them have said is that they love the Bristol connection and being able to recognise places they know in my story. Plenty of my friends have said they couldn’t put the book down and I am now starting to get some positive comments from strangers too.

“I am still hoping to get an agent one day; perhaps a traditional publishing deal too.”
