The Bristol big screen in Millennium Square has been in place now for a few years, but last night its original purpose was fulfilled as it showed the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games. Funded by the BBC, London 2012 and Bristol City Council, the big screen will be showing non-stop Olympics until August 12, followed by the Paralympics between August 29 and September 9.

    We were there – we’re actually on the far left of your first picture (when I zoomed in on my phone you can see my Foster Son’s afro and me looking right up because of how close we were to the screen! (I’m surprised that I can still hear now!)
