In celebration of our love affair with all things two-wheeled, Cyclescreen is returning to Watershed for a second year, presenting films, talks and events, celebrating the unconfined joy of cycling.
Cyclescreen began yesterday. Here’s what’s going on for the rest of the weekend:
Friday, August 19
Talk: Rob Penn, 6pm
Explore the cultural and scientific significance of the bike and one man’s journey to build his dream machine.
Film: Life Cycles, 8pm
One of the most eagerly-anticipated mountain bike films ever, showcasing the world’s best riders and locations.
Event: Rollapoluza, 9pm
A free racing event recreating the old roller-race format in the first floor bar. Sweats win prizes.
Saturday, August 20

Open air screening on the Millennium Square big screen of Gavin Strange’s documentary celebrating the fixed gear scene in Bristol.
Sunday, August 21
Talk: William Fotheringham, 1pm
The Guardian’s cycling correspondent discusses his new book, Cyclopedia.
Film: A Sunday in Hell, 3pm
This seminal film about the Paris-Roubaix classic is regarded as the most powerful portrayal of cycle racing ever made. Followed by Q&A with director Jorgen Leth and William Fotheringham.
