Harbourside Market launch weekend

A new market launches on Bristol’s harbourside this weekend. The Harbourside Market will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Bordeaux Quay in front of the Watershed. The market is part of a wider event called Harbourside Starts Here, which aims to encourage more people to this area of Bristol.

The market will have a different theme on each day, and run from 11am to 4pm:

Friday, April 29: Food and drink. Best of the South West.
Saturday, April 30: Art and books. Made in Bristol.
Sunday, May 1: Arts and crafts. Love local, buy local.

After the launch, the Harbourside Market will run each weekend featuring food, art and craft on Saturdays; and books, art, records and plants on Sundays.

“The aim of the market is to reanimate St Augustine’s Reach and its quaysides, attracting attention to the other independent trading and cultural activities around the Harbourside,” a spokesman said.

“The Harbourside Market offers something for everyone; a sensory introduction for tourists to Bristol, a showcase of the high quality art and food produced in the region and a much-needed independent and sustainable shopping destination for the city’s residents.”

On Friday, there will also be a food market called StrEAT on Anchor Square, serving street food from across the world, with dishes from Thailand, India, Spain, Indonesia, Jamaica and other countries served from 11am to 8pm with dishes costing around £5.

Other special events across the weekend including pirate walks and the Royal wedding broadcast on the big screen in Millennium Square.
