Preview: Furnish at Paintworks

Thinking outside the flat pack – that’s the aim of Furnish, an exhibition at the Paintworks that will showcase the best in contemporary and traditional furniture design from Bristol and Bath. “In an age of flat packs and low quality furniture, Furnish aim to offer an alternative – furniture which is handmade, unique and high quality.”

The Furnish collective consists of seven designers and furniture makers: Charlie Crowther-Smith, Simon White, Rohan Scadding, Toby Howes, Richard Bannister, Jeremy Armstrong and Emma Hubble.

They will offer a range of contemporary and traditional pieces including tables, wardrobes, chairs and fitted pieces. Many of the pieces exhibited will be for sale and the designers will be on hand to discuss bespoke services. The exhibition will also include a video installation outlining the process of bespoke furniture production from tree to finished piece.

The exhibition opens to private view on Thursday, July 8 and will run until July 13. It is open weekdays 11am to 7pm and weekends 10am to 6pm. Entry is free.
